Trustee

Ealing and Hounslow Community and Voluntary Service

Do you have enthusiasm, commitment and sound judgement?  Do you share our vision for Ealing and Hounslow in which all people enjoy lives of inclusion, safety, wellbeing and fulfilment. If yes, you could be the person we are looking for.

Our values, of inclusion, integrity, collaboration and commitment underpin all our work.

We want to encourage applications from all communities across Ealing and Hounslow and actively encourage young members from ethnic minorities to apply.

About EHCVS

EHCVS has been supporting the voluntary and community sector in Ealing for OVER 40 years and Hounslow for over 10 years. We support over 800 local voluntary groups in Ealing and 700 groups in Hounslow.

EHCVS is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. Our annual income is currently around £1million

The EHCVS Board

Trustees will service  3 year term before standing for re-election

The key responsibilities of the Board and Trustees include:

  • Ensuring EHCVS is financially viable
  • Ensuring EHCVS meets all legal requirements
  • Ensuring EHCVS provides high quality services
  • Ensuring EHCVS has proper, up to date organisational and HR policies and procedures
  • Approving annual budgets and receiving regular financial reports
  • Reviewing and monitoring performance of EHCVS projects
  • Setting overall standards and future direction for EHCVS
  • Working with EHCVS staff to develop new ideas and new projects
  • Receiving regular presentations from ECVS staff

Trustees must live, work or be involved in the voluntary sector in the Borough of Ealing and Hounslow. All Trustees must be over 18 years of age and must not have been disqualified from being a Company Director under Article 38 of the Companies Act 1985.

In terms of time commitment, being a Trustee involves:

  • 6 EHCVS Board meetings per year in the early evening with the opportunity to attend in-person or online
  • EHCVS AGM
  • EHCVS Staff/Trustee Awayday

We recognise Trustees have other commitments and do not expect every Trustee to be able to attend every EHCVS event - but we would expect as a minimum you would be able to attend 4 Board meetings per year.  Trustees are entitled to claim travel expenses for attending Board meetings.

We offer our Trustees an opportunity to get involved in a leading local CVS with a high national reputation, which runs a wide variety of projects and activities in Ealing, Hounslow and across West London.

What skills do I need?

Our prime requirement is a commitment to the voluntary sector as a whole and to supporting ECVS as a successful and sustainable organisation.

We are interested in hearing from potential Trustees from a range of backgrounds and experience, but we would particularly welcome Trustees with skills and experience in the following areas:

  •       The needs of younger service users
  •        Legal knowledge and skills
  •          IT and social media
  •       Commissioning and bidding
