Facilitator for Creative Writing Sessions in Acton (Multi-generational)

Ealing and Hounslow Community and Voluntary Service (EHCVS) is a registered local charity supporting voluntary and community sector (VCS) groups in Ealing and Hounslow for over 40 years. We offer a wide range of practical support services to VCS groups, both large and small.

 

Project title:  Acton Community Connect

 

Acton Community Connect is an initiative by EHCVS that aims to contribute to the diverse Acton community. Through our research and connections with the Acton community we have identified three needs that the Acton Community Connect initiative will address:

  • Reduce social isolation
  • Improve health and wellbeing
  • Strengthen the community

Through our existing relationships with groups and residents in Acton, we will utilize community assets (churches, libraries, parks etc.) to create spaces that facilitate the needs of the community that focuses on practices that are inclusive of Acton's marginalised and excluded communities/groups.



Main purpose of the role

The main purpose of this role is to create an engaging and inclusive space where people from the Acton Community can enjoy creative writing in a friendly, inclusive and relaxed setting. These sessions will be held in Acton once per week for one hour or more at a reasonable time that best suits your schedule.


General Responsibilities

Facilitating community creative writing sessions weekly, independently or with a co-facilitator


  • Creating an engaging, friendly and inclusive space
  • Encouraging participants to engage in creative writing activities
  • Directing and guiding participants through the use of workshop techniques such as writing prompts
  • Listening and responding to needs expressed by participants
  • Demographic reporting and feedback collection




What skills do I need?

  • A general interest in creative writing in its many forms, such as short stories and poetry
  • Community activity facilitation, or a desire to learn through experience
  • Creating workshop style techniques for creative writing activities
