Volunteer Facilitator

We’re looking for a passionate and engaging Creative Writing Facilitator to lead inclusive, inspiring sessions for individuals at various stages of their recovery journey. This role is ideal for someone who believes in the power of storytelling and self-expression as tools for healing, confidence-building, and community connection.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver weekly creative writing sessions tailored to a mixed-ability group
• Encourage participants to explore poetry, short stories, journaling, or spoken word
• Create a safe, non-judgmental space where everyone feels heard and supported
• Offer constructive feedback and encouragement to build confidence and skills
• Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to adapt sessions to group needs
• Inspire creativity and help participants find their voice through writing

What skills do I need?

Skills & Qualities:

• Strong background in creative writing (professional or personal experience)
• Warm, approachable, and able to connect with people from diverse backgrounds
• Good communication and group facilitation skills
• Patient, supportive, and trauma-informed approach
• Experience in peer support, mental health, or community work is a plus
