Cancer Research UK Shine Night Walk

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our next Cancer Research UK Shine Night Walk event in London, on the 20th September 2025.

As a Course Route Marshal – You will be located at a strategic point along the course, ready to cheer and motivate the walkers as they make their way across London. You will be supported by a Zone Manager and be paired up with another volunteer. You can also bring a friend to buddy up with! Whether you’re a first-time volunteer or a seasoned veteran, we’d love for you to join us!

What skills do I need?

We’re looking for people who are: Engaging, friendly and keen to make sure everyone has a brilliant day. Willing to get stuck in and help. Good communicators. Flexible and can use their own initiative. Team players – you’ll be joining a lovely bunch of other volunteers!

Starting and finishing at Battersea Park, Battersea Park Road, London, SW11 4NJ. The course runs through Vauxhall, Victoria, St James Park, Westminster Bridge, Tower Bridge, St Pauls Cathedral, St Pancras, Marble arch, Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham palace, Kensington. 4-6 hours Time commitment is ideal but we welcome any time commitments the individual deems appropriate for their personal psychical and mental health.

  • Age restrictions
    Volunteers need to be aged 13 or over on the night of the event. If you are 16 or 17 on the night of the event, you’ll need to seek permission from your legal parent or guardian to volunteer. If you are 13 - 16 on the night of the event, your legal parent or guardian will need to complete the online application form for themselves, providing a name and date of birth of any accompanying under 16s in the 'Comments' box. You will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult on the night who is also registered to volunteer.
