Acton Connect General Volunteer

Ealing and Hounslow Community and Voluntary Service

Ealing and Hounslow Community and Voluntary Service (EHCVS) is a registered local charity supporting voluntary and community sector (VCS) groups in Ealing and Hounslow for over 40 years. We offer a wide range of practical support services to VCS groups, both large and small. Project title: Acton Community Connect Acton Community Connect is an initiative run by EHCVS and funded by Ealing Council that aims to contribute to the diverse Acton community. Through our research and connections with the Acton community we have identified three needs that the Acton Community Connect initiative will address:

  • Reduce social isolation
  • Improve health
  • Wellbeing Strengthen the community

Through our existing relationships with groups and residents in Acton, we will utilize community assets (churches, libraries, parks etc.) to create spaces that facilitate the needs of the community as stated above.

Some of the sessions we are running through the project are:

  • Older peoples group
  • Sewing class
  • Creative writing sessions
  • Yoga health and wellbeing sessions
  • Walks and talks sessions for young people

We are looking for Volunteers to support our work, in running successful activities to the residents living in Acton.

Support in the session will look like

  • Support in the session will look like:
  • Supporting attendees during sessions
  • Assisting facilitators with session delivery
  • Helping with tea and coffee at coffee mornings
  • Welcoming and signing in participants to create a friendly, inclusive environment
  • Setting up and packing away equipment and materials before and after sessions
  • Providing one-to-one support to individuals who may need extra assistance
  • Encouraging participation and helping build confidence among attendees
  • Assisting with promoting sessions within the local community (e.g. handing out flyers or sharing information)
  • Supporting the organisation of activities, including preparing resources in advance
  • Ensuring spaces are clean, safe, and accessible for all participants
  • Helping to gather feedback from attendees to improve future sessions
  • Supporting outreach efforts to engage new residents in activities
  • Taking photos (where appropriate and with consent) to help showcase the project
  • Assisting with basic administrative tasks such as attendance record
  • Being a positive ambassador for the project and helping create a welcoming atmosphere
